CnCNet is an open source unofficial (as in not supported by EA) service created by Command & Conquer fans. This service allows you to play Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun online through the network functions of the games.
CnCNet allows you to play "network" games over the internet. CnCNet uses peer to peer (p2p) technology to connect games on CnCNet together. For games to be smooth we recommend that you play with players on your own continent, but if you don't mind some lag a European player can play with a US player. But try to avoid extremes as a Canadian player playing with someone from New Zealand, because that will have extreme lag! So basically the closer the players are the better.
What about Hamachi?
The biggest issue with Hamachi is that you open a Viritual Private Network (VPN) with strangers and adding strangers to a VPN is like adding strangers to your own home network which is something you probably won't do.
What about other VPN programes?
Same issue as Hamachi, using any VPN
program can be a massive security risk.
You speak of security risks with using VPN, but doesn't CnCNet use VPN too?
No, CnCNet does not use any form of VPN technology! CnCNet simply makes the C&C network lobby read external IP's instead of LAN IP's
What operating systems does CnCNet work in?
>CnCNet currently works in Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Linux with Wine. Other OSes might work, but have not been tested.

"Obligatory" works with logo's! :D
CnCNet have not been reviewed by Microsoft, but since everyone uses these logo's why shouldn't we use them?......
